The research project "Numerical tools for wear prediction and multi-criteria optimization of pile driving hammers" (NUWERAM) described here was part of the joint project "Investigation of primary measures for the reduction of underwater noise emission during the driving of foundation piles" (SILENT HAMMER). This final report provides deep insights into efficient investigation methods and optimization strategies of pile driving hammers for offshore wind turbines.
The central points of the research project presented are:
Development of numerical methods for the investigation of selected properties of pile hammers, including the consideration of numerous interactions.
Two-stage optimization task: firstly, optimizing the acoustic properties and secondly, ensuring the desired wear behavior and ramability.
Selection of material models for the description and quantification of strength, material fatigue and wear.
Ensuring fast data exchange between large submodels of the overall Rammhammer system.
