SCADAS ES - Modern Data Acquisition Hardware

SCADAS ES

The New SCADAS Hardware for Precise Data Acquisition in the Lab and in the Field

SCADAS ES is the next generation of Simcenter data acquisition hardware for mechanical testing and validation. The platform is based on the SCADAS architecture and enhances it with further improvements in signal quality, on-board software, and a fully modular design.

The system measures vibrations, forces, stresses, pressures, temperatures, and other physical quantities with high accuracy in the laboratory, on test benches, and in mobile applications. Typical applications include durability testing, NVH, structural and modal testing, as well as functional and system testing across various industries.

Main Components of SCADAS ES

ES System Stack

The central component is a stackable system consisting of a Power Network Interface, conditioning units, and an optional processing unit. The units can be mechanically connected and electrically combined to create a measurement system with the appropriate number of channels and functionality.

RS I/O modules

The conditioning units cover a range that corresponds to the measurement cards of the well-known SCADAS Mobile and Lab systems. Numerous card types are available with different numbers of channels and connection options, so that existing sensors and wiring can generally be reused as-is.

ES Housing

The enclosures are designed for compact stacks and distributed setups. Multiple units can be mounted either directly on top of or next to each other, or placed along the object under test. Short cable runs and local wiring reduce the amount of cabling required and simplify handling in complex measurement setups.

Modules

Available Unit Types in SCADAS ES

An SCADAS ES system consists of a Power Network Interface and a combination of conditioning units and an optional processing unit. The following examples provide an overview of typical conditioning units. The available range of modules is being expanded gradually. You can find a current and complete overview in the Novicos Shop.

Power Network Interface (PNI / PNU)

The Power Network Interface supplies power to the connected SCADAS ES units and establishes the system connection. It is available as a PNI for laboratory and test bench applications, and as a PNU for field use with an integrated rechargeable battery.

Multiple units can be combined into a stack and arranged in any order. The position of the Power Network Interface within the stack is flexible and not fixed.

Voltage Units

Acquisition of voltage and differential signals (single-ended, semi-differential, differential) with various numbers of channels and connectors. Suitable for general sensor signals and electrical measured quantities.

Bridge Units

Inputs for full-bridge, half-bridge, and quarter-bridge configurations with integrated sensor power supply. Designed for strain gage, force, pressure, and displacement transducers.

Batch Units

Inputs for charge sensors, such as piezoelectric accelerometers or pressure transducers. For applications involving high frequencies and dynamic loads.

PDAC Units

Combination of pulse and tachometer inputs and analog outputs (DAC) on the same connectors, switchable via software. Suitable for speed and pulse signals as well as for excitation or reference signals.

Digital Input Units

Digital inputs for CAN and CAN-FD, as well as interfaces such as SPDIF and binaural headphone outputs. Used to connect vehicle buses, control units, and audio/acoustic signals.

Processing Unit (REC)

Optional module with recording functionality, pulse, DAC, and CAN interfaces. It enables local recording and processing when the system is not operated exclusively as a front end for Testlab.
